Beautiful, historic, and clean old school performing concert hall in downtown Portland around the block from The Melting Pot fondue restaurant and a Brazilian Grill called Fo De Chao Steakhouse. There's a paid for multiple level parking garage directly across the street from the front entrance of this concert hall with other parking garages in the area as well. depending on the event, times, and specifically chosen seats tickets can range from $30-$160 on average. They provide military discounts through the GOVX platform for events. They also offer student discounts for certain but not all events. Handicap seats for the disabled are usually on the cheaper end and if they are accompanied by a caregiver their tickets are complimentary.

Gorgeous venue. Love seeing shows here. Truly not a bad seat in the house. From the fancy schmancy interior decor to the wide variety of entertainment including anything from symphony orchestra to grungy rock n rollers the schnitz is not one to be missed. 10/10.

If you grew up around here, the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall, or "The Schnitz," as pretty much everyone actually calls it, is practically built into your mental map of downtown. That giant, vertical PORTLAND marquee glowing against a damp Broadway evening is one of the most comforting sights in the city. It’s the backdrop to decades of local memories: high school orchestra trips, first dates, catching a favorite comedian, or taking parents to see the Oregon Symphony. The Vibe & Architecture: Pure Italian Rococo Drama Stepping into the Schnitz feels like stepping back into 1928, when it originally opened as a grand movie palace (the old Paramount). The Lobby: Warm, opulent, and intentionally overwhelming. With its sweeping staircases, massive crystal chandeliers, and French Renaissance detailing, it retains an old-school elegance that’s getting harder to find in modern venues. The Auditorium: Rich teal, salmon, and gold accents frame a soaring, ornate ceiling. The sheer scale of the place makes every event feel like a special occasion, whether you're sitting in the main orchestra level or way up in the balcony. Historically, vintage movie palaces were built for cinema screens rather than modern unamplified orchestral music, which meant the sound could occasionally feel a bit dry or swallowed up under the deep balcony. However, the major acoustical upgrade a few years back completely transformed the venue. The state-of-the-art spatial sound processing system gives classical and acoustic shows a rich, warm resonance that reaches every corner of the room. Pro-Tip for Locals & Visitors: Leave extra time for parking or take MAX into the Cultural District. Getting in early lets you walk through the foyer without the rush, grab a drink, and actually take in the plasterwork details before the lights dim. The Schnitz isn't just a venue; it's a piece of living Portland history that has managed to age gracefully while adapting to modern tech. It anchors the cultural block of SW Broadway and remains the best place in town to catch a world-class performance under a piece of illuminated local history
